Life Events

     Ronald Albert Alchin was born on 30 December 1915 in Mount Bryan, South Australia, son of Albert Anthony Hatwood Alchin and Julia Cordelia Olman.1

On 24 October 1940 Ronald began his millitary service when he enlisted in the Australian Army in Gladstone, South Australia. His Service Number was S33031. He was discharged on an "unknown date" with the rank of Private, in the 8th Auxillary HT Company.
He rejoined on 18 April 1943 at Wayville and was finally discharged on 29 August 1946, with rank of Sapper in the Australian Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Training Centre.2

On 29 October 1949, Ronald, aged 33, married Muriel Gale, aged 31, in Adelaide, South Australia.

For not having a "current wireless listeners' licence" he was fined £3, with 10/- costs, on 3 September 1953, in the Adelaide Police Court, Adelaide, South Australia.3

He died on Saturday, 5 December 1992, aged 76 years, 11 months and 5 days, in Adelaide, South Australia.

Ronald was buried on 11 December 1992 in the Port Pirie Cemetery, War Graves section, Port Pirie, South Australia, by Reverend Varnish.4
