     Gregory James Fairlie was born on 27 June 1900 in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, son of Thomas Craig Fairlie and Jane Ann Seccombe.1,2

Gregory began military service on 29 October 1918 in Adelaide, South Australia, When he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces. His service number was 15730. He was discharged on 24th December 1918 because of "Cessation of Hostilities."2

Maintenance for Family

Gregory James Fairlie was charged before Mr. H. M. Muirhead S.M., in No. 2 Adelaide Police Court today with having left his wife without adequate means of support since December 5. He was called upon to show cause why an order should not be made against him to contribute toward the maintenance of his wife and two children. Mr. J. K. Alderman, of the Children's Welfare and Public Relief Board, asked for an order for £1 a week for the wife and 10/ a week for each child. Defendant consented to such an order being made.4
He died on Wednesday, 26 April 1944, aged 43 years, 9 months and 30 days, in Adelaide, South Australia.5

Gregory was buried in the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, South Australia, with his father, in Road 2, path 5, W, site 4.5
