Life Events

William Tregeagle was born on 24 April 1860 in Tea Tree Gully, South Australia, son of William Trethowan Tregeagle and Sarah Haines.1

To my knowledge, William wasand were never married.2

He died on Monday, 2 November 1931, aged 71 years, 6 months and 9 days, in Para Hills, South Australia, when he was incinerated, caused by the hut in which he lived catching fire.3,2

From "The Advertiser", Wednesday 4 November 1931
Salisbury, November 3.
Mr. N. C. Hoffrichter, of Lower North-east Road, Prospect, happened to pass near Teisseirie's quarries last evening, when he noticed a burnt-out shack and found the charred body of William Tregeagle, aged 71 years. The deceased was well known in this district, and a brother of Mrs. Clifton, Salisbury, Mrs. Roberts, Seacliff and Mrs. Phillips, Tea Tree Gully.

It is surmised that the shack, which was made of kerosene tins and bagging, and in which Mr. Tregeagle lived, caught fire, probably from a fire bucket, which was used inside the hut. The exact time of the fire is not known, but Tregeagle was last seen alive about 7 p.m. on Sunday by residents of the town, and appeared in good health.

The local Coroner (Mr. W. H. Neal) has decided that an inquest is unnecessary.4
