James Haines and Hannah Flower emigrated on 26 December 1849 from Plymouth, Devon, England, accompanied by their seven children, on board the "Trafalgar", leaving Gravesend on 16th December and, finally, leaving Plymouth on 26th December, 1849, under the command of Captain Richardson and Mr. Wyld, Surgeon-Superintendent3 and he arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia, on 30 March 1850.4
He died on Wednesday, 13 June 1866, aged 52 years, 3 months and 1 day, in Allens Creek, South Australia, from strangulation of the bowel.5
James was buried on 14 June 1866 in the Allens Creek, South Australia.
