Oscar Haines Rosser was born on 13 November 1892 in Kapunda, South Australia, son of Thomas William Rosser and Emma Haines.1Oscar began military service on 14 December 1914 in Oaklands Park, South Australia, when he enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was 876, and he joined the 3rd light Horse Regiment. On 23rd December 1918 he was discharged as "medically unfit". He had received a gunshot wound to the left arm on 13th April, while fighting in Palestine.2
On 20 February 1915, Oscar, aged 22, married Florence Margery McConnal, aged 19, in St Augustine Church in Port Augusta, South Australia.1
