     Joy Woollacott was born on 22 June 1913 in Aberdeen, South Australia, daughter of Thomas Henry Woollacott and Nellie Pearson Westmoreland.

In August 1937, in Adelaide Children's Hospital, North Adelaide, South Australia, Joy passed her final nursing exams with a Credit and Silver Medal.¹

Joy began military service on 16 September 1942 in Wayville, South Australia, when she enlisted in the Australian Army. Her service number was SX26589. She was discharged on 24 January 1945, with the rank of Lieutenant in the Australian Army Nursing Service.²

On 4 October 1944, Joy, aged 31, married William Hamilton Fairlie, aged 34, son of William Hamilton Fairlie and Annie Marie Cahill, in Christ Curch, Church of England, Milton in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

On 5 December 1934, Harold, aged 21, married Audrey Annie Fairlie, aged 20, daughter of William Hamilton Fairlie and Annie Marie Cahill, in St Marks Catholic Church in Port Pirie, South Australia.¹

He died on Sunday, 17 June 1984, aged 71 years, 5 months and 21 days, in South Plympton, South Australia,⁴ and he was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, on 19 June 1984.⁴
