TWO MEN KILLED ANOTHER INJURED
TWO MEN KILLED ANOTHER INJURED
An appalling accident occurred on the steamer Windouree at Port Adelaide
on Tuesday day afternoon, by which James Sinclair and Arthur Bilsborow
were scalded to death while Donald Carmichael was seriously injured. The
accident was caused through the bursting of a boiler tube in the stokehold.
The victims and the injured man were boilermakers in the employ of Messrs.
Hosie & Sidoli, shipsmiths, of Port Adelaide. Tho Wendouree is employed
in the coal trade, and belongs to Messrs. Huddart, Parker, & Co. She arrived
from Newcastle on Friday last with a cargo of 2,000 tons of coa1, which was
discharged at the Port, and the steamer was to have left again for Newcastle
at 1 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon. Of the four boilers in the steamer three
are in constant use, and the fourth is kept ready in case of an emergency. It
was this boiler that Messrs. Hosie & Sidoli's men were repairing when the
accident to another boiler occurred. An inquest has been held, and was adj-
ourned until July 3. The Government have ordered the Wendouree to be
resurveyed before she can be allowed to proceed to sea.2,3
