     Doreen Ellen Mary Lawry was born on 7 September 1904 in Hamilton, South Australia, daughter of George Lawry and Eva Ethel Sarah Martin Jose.1 In 1925
From the "Burra Record",m 23 December 1925     Miss Doreen Lawry, the teacher of the local school has been transferred to Marble Range near Port Lincoln, and last week, prior to her departure she was entertained by the various parents and students at the school when a very happy afternoon was spent by all.
     Mr H. F. Saunders was chairman and the scholars contributed the programme and some splendid items were given by them. In making a presentation to Miss Lawry, Mr Saunders remarked on the splendid service given by her to the children and the tactful though firm manner in which she handled them.
     In asking her to accept a very handsome clock Mr Saunders expressed the regret felt at her departure and also assured her of their best wishes for her success in the future.
     Afternoon tea supplied by the parents, was served at the close.2
In the late 1950's to early 1960's she was a primary school teacher, teaching at Unley Primary School.

She died on Tuesday, 3 February 1987, aged 82 years, 4 months and 27 days, in Fullarton, South Australia,3 and she was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, on 6 February 1987.3
