In 1800 a Charles William Steer was appointed judge and magistrate of the zillah (district) of Dacca, Jelalpore, India. Apparently Charles and William were names that were used together or separately through several related Steer families so, at the moment, I'm not sure if this is "our" Charles William.1

On 23 March 1808, Charles, aged 23, married Jane Woodburn Watson, in Fatehgarh (Futty Ghur), Uttar Pradesh, India.
