     Clifford Phillip Bilsborow was born on 28 October 1923 in Glanville, South Australia, son of Arthur Charles Bilsborow and Matilda Catherine Oxlade.¹

On 25 November 1941 Clifford began his millitary service when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in Port Adelaide, South Australia. His Service Number was PA2297. He was discharged on 24 May 1946 with the rank of Able Seaman on the HMAS Rushcutter.²
