On 21 October 1944, Leslie, aged 26, married Joyce Merle Eckhold, aged 22, in Holy Trinity Church, North Terrace in Adelaide, South Australia.² He died on Friday, 1 August 2003, aged 85 years and 11 days, in Findon, South Australia,³ and he was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, on 5 August 2003.⁴

Gordon began military service on 30 April 1941 in Noarlunga, South Australia, when he enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was S24233. When he was discharged on, 2nd April 1943, he was a Lance Corporal in the 43rd Battalion.

Next day, on 3rd April 1943, he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force. His number there was 437872. He was discharged from the Air Force on 1st April 1947, with the rank of Flying Officer at RAAF Station, Laverton, Victoria.²

He died in 1988, aged 67 years, in Gold Coast region, Queensland, Australia.³
