     Edward James Shearer was born on 5 September 1911 in Mundoora, South Australia, son of William John Shearer and Fanny Louise Haines.

On 5 May 1942 Edward, when he enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was S74103. he was discharged on 8th March, 1943 with the rank on Private in the 7 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps in Yorketown, South Australia.

He died on Saturday, 3 December 1983, aged 72 years, 2 months and 28 days, in Elizabeth South, South Australia,1 and he was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, on 6 December 1983.1
