FUNERALS
THE LATE C. S. MINCHAM
THE LATE C. S. MINCHAM
The funeral of the late Charles Stepnen Mincham, a resident of Coolgardie for 22 years, took place in the Church of England portion of the Kalgooriie Cemetery on Monday, October 14, and was largely attended by friends from Kalgoorlie, Coolgardie, and Boulder, representing the various lodges and asciociations in which the deceased had been a member, and held in highest esteem. The service was conducted by the Rev. T. H. Barratt, of All Saints' Church, in a most impressive manner, after which the beautiful service of the Masonic Order was read by Wor. Bro. E. A. Bennet, R.W.M., of Lodge Federal, the deceased's own lodge, of which he had been Worshipful Master. There were also present representatives of the Westralia Royal Arch Chapter, Coolgardie, of which deceased was Principal; also the Preceptory and Priory at Coolgardie, and the Free Gardeners Friendly Society. The Kalgoorlie police were represented by officers and men from the various departments. After the service the Masons passed round the grave, and, according to an ancient custom, deposited a sprig of evergreen in the grave, and their service ended with the singing of the deceased's favourite hymn, 'Nearer my God to Thee.' The chief mourners were Mrs. C. S. Mincham (widow) and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mincham (brother and sister in-law, Boulder), Mr. Edwin Mincham (brother, Norseman), Mr. Alf Smith (nephew, Boulder), and Find lay Mincham (nephew). The funeral procession was an impressive one, the Masons walking in double file before the hearse. The pall-bearers were the officers of the various lodges represented.
Much sympathy is felt for the widow, who is left with nine children, five of whom are under 14 years of age. Beautiful wreaths and floral emblems were received.3
