     Edgar Herbert Pether Long was born on 9 October 1904 in Perth, Western Australia, son of Henry William Long and Lucy Mabel Pether.1

On 9 April 1932, Edgar, aged 27, married Sylvia Adelaide Mincham, aged 31, daughter of Charles Stephen Mincham and Eliza Clarke, in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.1

     On April 9, at 6.30 p.m.,at St. John's Cathedral a very pretty wedding was celebratedwhen Sylvia, eldest daughter of Mrs. Charles Mincham, of Collins-steet, Kalgoorlie, became the wife of Edgar, eldest son of Mr. George Long, of Como.
     The bride entered the church with her brother, Mr. Peter Mincham, who gave her away. She waore a full length frock of ivory georgette and lace, with a veil and coronet of orange blossom. A bouquet of tuber roses (sic), carnations and fern complted a charming toilet. Miss Queenie Mincham acted as bridesmaid for her sister, and wore a dainty frock of pink silk morocain with flounced skirt, and a pjnk felt hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and fern. Mr Bert Illig carried out the duties of best man.
     After the ceremony the wedding breakfast was held at the home of the bride's mother, who received her guests wearing a smart frock of black silk morocain and hat en suite.2
He died on Wednesday, 5 August 1987, aged 82 years, 9 months and 27 days, in Mandurah, Western Australia.1

He was cremated and his ashes placed in the family grave at in the Karrakatta Cemetery, Karrakatta, Western Australia.3
