On 1 November 1830, Thomas, married Ann Stevens, in North Newnton, Wiltshire, England.1

Thomas appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 in North Newnton, Wiltshire, England, as head, age 30, an Agricultural Labourer. Also present was his wife Ann, aged 35 and their children Charlotte 8, Jonah 5 & Sarah 2.
Also living with them was Ann Pinchin, aged 80, a pauper. She died in June quarter of 1842. Possibly a grandmother?2

Thomas Hobbs emigrated on 22 September 1849from London via Plymouth, Devon, England, on the ship, "Harry Lorrequer", 900 tons, under Captain Richard C. Jeffries. Also on board was his wife Ann and their children Charlotte, age 16, Jonah
13, Sarah 9 and Jane 4. They arrived in Port Adelaide on 26 Dec 1849.3

The head of house was Eleanor Roberts, age 68, widow, Milk Manageress and Dairywoman. Also boarding there were Annie Benfield, 56, Dressmaker and Edith A Langridge, 16, Apprentice to dressmaker.7

He appeared on the census on 2 April 1911, in the household with Ellen Sparkes in 3 Russell Terrace, Mundesley, Norfolk, England, He was enumerated as being 74 years old, a widower with no occupation and he was deaf.8
