     William John Chace was born on 7 May 1863 in Para Hills, South Australia, son of William Chace and Marian McCloud.

On 5 August 1895, William, aged 32, married Margaret Ellen Wilson, aged 22, daughter of William Wilson and Elizabeth Catherine Oxlade.

He worked for the Harbours Board.

He died on Monday, 3 September 1934, aged 71 years, 3 months and 27 days, at the Railway Station, Alberton, South Australia. Cause of death was heart falure. Before he died he had been living in Rosewater.1

William was buried in the Hindmarsh Cemetery, Hindmarsh, South Australia.2
