LAND GIRL'S ROMANCE: AIR WEDDING
Heroine of a real Land Army romance is land girl Thelma Batt, who tomorrow weds a young airman she met at a country dance.
He is Aircraftman Grant Perry, and their first meeting was in Port Noarlunga Institute, at a dance arranged for the Land Army's flax spreaders.
Thelma, who used to be a commercial artist, was batching with other land girls in a Port Noarlunga cottage. Three months ago she and Aircraftman Perry became engaged, and tomorrow they marry in Norman Memorial Congregational Church.
The bride is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Batt. of Woodville Estate. For her wedding gown she has chosen white tulle over taffeta, the billowy skirt gathered to a low waistline and fitting bodice. Her long veil will be embroidered with leaves, and she will carry mixed white flowers. Her sister, Laurel Batt, will be her bridesmaid, in white tulle over blue taffeta. Corporal Len Stillwell, A.M.F., will be the best man.
After a brief honeymoon Thelma will prepare for the grape-picking season at Renmark.1,3
