     Evelyn Gertrude Hollamby was born on 8 February 1912 in Streaky Bay, South Australia, daughter of Alfred Benjamin Hollamby and Ada Eliza Burke.

On 27 November 1934, Evelyn, aged 22, married David Gilles Cummings, aged 23, son of Leo Cummings and Eliza Rouse, in the Cungena Hall in Cungena, South Australia. The officiating Minister was Lionel F. Ashman and the witnesses were the groom's brother, Joseph Britton Cumming, farmer of Minnipa and the bride's sister, Edith F. Hollamby, home duties, of Cungena.1,3

She died in 2001, aged 88 years, in South Australia.

Life Events

     Leo Cummings was born on 11 September 1935 in Sheringa, South Australia, son of David Gilles Cummings and Evelyn Gertrude Hollamby.1

He died on Monday, 29 June 1959, aged 23 years, 9 months and 18 days, in South Australia, from drowning when lost at sea from the fishing vessel Wangaree, near Sheringa. His body was never found. A Memorial stone has been erected on the cliff near Kiana Beach, between Mount Hope and Sheringa, South Australia.1,2

On 26 July 1959a memorial service for Leo was held at St John's Church, Sheringa, South Australia.3
