     Trevor Gorman was born about September 1916 in Neath, Glamorganshire, Wales, son of Edwin Gorman and Elizabeth Williams.1,2

He died on Monday, 17 June 1940, when the RMS "Lancastria" (a troopship) was sunk about 17 km from in St Nazaire, Loire-Atlantique, France, The air raid began before 4 pm. Three direct hits caused the ship to list first to starboard then to port and she rolled over and sank within twenty minutes.
There were around 9,000 British Army soldiers on board and an estimated 4,000 perished. It was the worst loss of life for British forces for the the whole of World War 11, and also the worst disaster in British maritime history.1

Trevor was buried in the Pornic War Cemetery, Pornic, Loire-Atlantique, France.3
