     Alfred Wilson was born in March 1851 in Preston, Lancashire, England, son of Charles Wilson and Susannah Jesper.1

He appeared on the census on 7 April 1861, in the household of Charles Wilson in Barnacre-with-Bonds, Lancashire, England, as son 10, a scholar.2

In December 1875, Alfred, aged 24, married Mary Harris, aged 22, in Sibford, Oxfordshire, England.1

Alfred, age 30, appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 in Marton, Yorkshire, England, as head, age 30, Civil Engineer - Metalling.

his wife Mary 30 and their son Stanley age 3;
a boarder, Septimus Harris 32, a Clothier Tailor (probably Mary's brother) and
