A DIVORCE GRANTED
LONDON, February 2, 1923
Mr. Justice Horridge, in the Divorce Court, has granted a decree nisi for a divorce to Commander Frederick Robinson (who was attached to the staff of the Prince of Wales during his Australian tour) on grounds of his wife's misconduct with an unnamed Australian soldier, whom the respondent admitted was the father of her child, born in January, 1919.
The petitioner said he married a daughter of Sir Lincoln Tangye, in 1915, when serving with the Dover patrol. In the following year he had to complain of his wife's expensive mode of living, and of the company she was keeping. In a letter she refused to live where he was stationed. She had previously been a nurse at her mother's hospital in Paris so she then returned to the hospital. From then until January 1918, he saw her only at intervals. He did not see her between January, 1918, and June, 1922, when he returned from service with the Australian navy. His wife then admitted that she had had a child by an Australian soldier, whose name she refused to reveal. He had not since been able to ascertain the name.2
