From the "Chronicle", 29th March 1934
On March 14, at the Kooringa Methodist Church, Elwyn Frank, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Longbottom, of Ironmine, near Burra, was married to Miss Lillian Pearl Leaney, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Leaney, of Baldina, near Burra, by the Rev. David Longbottom, of Kingston, brother of the bridegroom, and a sister, Miss Mary Longbottom, presided at the organ.
The church was decorated by friends of the bride with tall palms, pink lilies, gladioli, and zinnias. The bridal march was played as the bridal party entered the church.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory georgette and fine lace; the latter was interwoven in diagonal inlets in the skirt, and also formed the yoke, and full puff sleeves to the elbow, the sleeve finishing with long pin-tucked georgette cuffs. The embroidered tulle veil lent by Mrs. Frank Earle (bridegroom's sister) fell to form a train from a trellised cap of narrow satin ribbon, outlined with orange blossoms. A trail of pure white gladioli, water lilies, and dahlias completed the costume. There were two bridesmaids, Miss Beryl Leaney, only sister of the bride, and Miss Avis Longbottom, youngest sister of the bridegroom. Both were frocked alike in two-tone pink ripple organdie. The skirts were inlet with godets of tiny frills. The sleeveless bodices had wide flared shoulder frills, and were finished at the waist with plaited belts and wide butter fly bow at back. Large hats of soft pink plaited straw were worn with a wreath of two-toned roses around the crown, finished with a large bow at the back. Frills of organdie adorned their gloves, and they carried trails of pink gladioli and lilies. Both wore pink crystal necklets, the gift of the bridegroom.
Mr. Hartley Longbottom was best man, and Mr. Eric Leaney, brother of the bride, was groomsman. As the bride came down the aisle four lucky horseshoes were hung upon her arm by Ron and Dorothy Earle, Joan Longbottom, and Margaret Forsyth, little nephew and nieces of bridegroom respectively.
Mrs. Leaney wore a navy sand crepe de chine with contrasting plaid trimmings, small hat to match, and carried a posy of contrasting flowers. Mrs. F. Longbottom, sen., wore a brown silk maro- cain costume, with fawn vest and hat to match, and carried a posy of mauve flowers.4
