WEDDING BELLS
MEISSNER - PAGE

On Saturday, January 5th, the marriage of Coral Jean, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Meissner, of Meadows, to Milton Howard, elder son of Mr. and Mrs M. H. Page, of West Croydon, was solemnized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hahndorf, by the Rev. C. J. Pfitzner. The bride wore a beautiful frock of lace woven in a design of orange blossom and wheat ears, and mounted on slipper satin, the front of the skirt being caught up in three places with sprigs of orange blossom, revealing an underskirt of frilled tulle. The frock merged into a train, this also being finished with a tulle frill. The bodice had a circular tulle yoke, and the long sleeves tapered to a point over the wrist. A finger-tip tulle veil, embroidered in each corner was held in place by a halo of orange blossom. The bride carried a bouquet of mixed white flowers, made by Mrs. C Gasmier.
Jean was attended by Mrs. Alec McKay, who wore lavender spotted net over matching taffeta, with a fitting bodice and a low round neck line, edged with two net frills and a gathered band of satin caught at intervals with pearls. The full skirt was also trimmed with gathered satin and pearls, giving a crinoline effect. Her picture hat of lavender net had a gathered under-brim of pink, and was finished with a band and bow of satin. Mrs. McKay carried a sheaf of pink gladioli, roses and gerbera, made by Mrs E. Ellis. Betty, sister of the bride, and Lorraine Burgess, niece of the bridegroom, were charming little flower girls, being frocked alike in pink spotted net over taffeta, the frocks being similar in style to that of the matron of honor. They wore bows of pink satin in their hair, and carried baskets of mixed flowers in shades of. pink and lavender. Their gifts from the bride-groom were gold bangles, which they also wore.
The groom was attended by his brother, William.
During the signing of the register Mrs. Gilbert Smith rendered 'The Lord is My Shepherd,' Mrs. Fred Brown assisting with the descant. Mrs. Pike officiated at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated with gladioli, hydrangeas, and bowls of mixed flowers, by friends of the bride.
A sky blue crepe frock, trimmed with cornella, a white hat with navy brim and trimmed with lily of the valley, and navy accessories, were worn by the bride's mother, whilst the bride-groom's mother chose an ensemble of mauve crepe with rouleaux trimmings and a straw hat of matching shades, and navy blue accessories.
Following the ceremony about sixty guests were entertained at the home of the bride's parents at Meadows, where the beautiful floral decorations had been arranged by Mrs. F. Riggs. The usual toasts were honoured, and Mr. L. Rogers was M.C. Suitable responses were made. Mr. William Page read the telegrams.
The bride left for her honeymoon wearing a grey floral frock under a grey wool georgette coat with a pink grosgain hat, matching handbag and gloves. Her shoes were grey snakeskin.
The happy couple are spending their honeymoon on a round trip to Melbourne, and on their return will settle at Whyalla, where Milton has been appointed to Whyalla South School.1
