Life Events

     David Binfield Oats was born on 18 March 1914 in Prospect, South Australia.1

On 27 August 1938, David, aged 24, married Dorothy Elsie Wiltshire, aged 24, daughter of Joseph Lewis Wiltshire and Elsie Hunt, in Malvern, South Australia.1

David began military service on 1 July 1942 in Fort Largs, South Australia, when he enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was SX21284. When he was discharged, on 8th February 1946, he was a Sergeant with 2/11 Australian Infantry Battalion.2

He died on Friday, 8 August 1997, aged 83 years, 4 months and 21 days, in Glengowrie, South Australia.3

David was buried on 12 August 1997 in the Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, and his ashes were interred in the Services Family section, Shrub bed 4, Position 054.3
