     Herbert Edwards was born about 1824 in Brampton Bryan, Herefordshire, England.1

In December 1849, Herbert, married Cecilia Vosper, aged 21, daughter of William Vosper and Elizabeth Gowman, in Exeter, Devon, England. Following the Banns published on the Three Sundays of 14, 21 & 28 October 1849. The strange thing is that the Banns were read at St. Mary's in Paddington Green, Middlesex but they married in Exeter, Devon (according to FreeBMD), probably St. Sidwell's, as that had been the family Church for years.1,2

Herbert appeared on the census of 7 April 1861 in house and stables in Hurlingham Lane, Fulham, Middlesex, England, as head, age 34, occupation Coachman.
Others present were his wife Cecilia 29, daughters Amelia E. 8, a scholar, Gertrude B. aged 2 and son Ernest P. age 4.3

By the time of the 1871 census, held on Sunday, 2 April 1871 they had moved about a quarter of a mile away, just around the corner, to the Coach-house with rooms over in Broomhouse Lane, Fulham, Middlesex, England. He was Head of House, age 45, Coachman.
Others present were his wife Cecilia 40, son Ernest Percival 12, a scholar, daughters Amelia Emma 18, a dressmaker and Gertrude Annie 12, a scholar.4

For the 1881 census on Sunday, 3 April 1881 they were still living in the Coach-house with Rooms Over in Broomhouse Lane, Fulham, Middlesex, England. He was still a coachman, living with his wife Cecilia and their daughter Gertrude, was still a dressmaker.5

He died on Sunday, 6 December 1896, in Fulham, Middlesex, England.2

Probate was granted on his estate on 1 April 1897 in London, England, to Gertrude Annie Brandon Edwards, spinster. Effects value £697 6s (valu 2009 = approx. AU$90,825.)6
