Life Events

     Albert Douglas George Battersby was born on 17 August 1917 in Brompton Park, South Australia, son of Alfred James Battersby and Esther Eliza Jane Ellis.1

Albert began military service on 10 August 1942 in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, when he enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was 49057 (SX24874). When he was discharged, on 18 October 1948, he was a Lance Corporal with HQ CMD A A S C (British Commonwealth Occupation Force.)2

He died on Sunday, 28 December 1952, aged 35 years, 4 months and 11 days, in South Australia.3

Albert was buried on 31 December 1952 in the Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia.3
