     Albert Edward Starkey was born on 25 May 1902 in Port Elliston, South Australia, son of William Starkey and Janet Hood.1

On 2 April 1930, Albert, aged 27, married Doris Threfall, in the Public Hall in Colley, South Australia.2

On 17 April 1942 Albert began his millitary service when he enlisted in the Australian Army in Port Kenny, South Australia. His Service Number was S70815. He was discharged on 24 December 1945 with the rank of Private in the 5th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps.3

He died on Tuesday, 24 October 1967, aged 65 years, 4 months and 29 days, in Port Lincoln Hospital, Port Lincoln, South Australia, myocardial ischaemic degeneration & coronary arteriosclerosis.4

He was buried in Conglima Cemetery, Conglima, South Australia, by the Rev Penna. Prior to his death he had been living in Port Lincoln.5
