The first Australian Edmonds, in our family line, was William Bennett "Bill" Edmonds, who arrived in South Australia on 27th of July, 1838. He was accompanied by his wife Elizabeth Ann (nee Evans). They had been married just two weeks before they sailed from England, so I guess they were on a "honeymoon cruise".
His family, including grandfather, father, uncles and brother, were involved in the woollen manufacturing industry in Bradford-on Avon, in Wiltshire.
The photos below are of the first four generations, in my direct line, following Bill's immigration into South Australia

It is assumed this is a portrait drawing of William Bennett Edmonds. It is the only male portrait in his wife's scrapbook, which she brought from England.

John Hinton Edmonds and his wife, Mary Louise (nee Puplett). At this time (mid-1880's) he had lost his right hand, hence the pose.
