     Lyall Reginald Henley was born on 26 June 1923 in Adelaide, South Australia.1

Lyall began military service on 3 October 1943 in Nailsworth, South Australia, when he enlisted in the Australian Army. His service number was SX31975. When he was discharged on 1st July 1946, he was a Private in 2 Australian Military Landing Group.2

On 17 August 1946, Lyall, aged 23, married Elva Margaret Fairlie, aged 19, daughter of John Fairlie and Charlotte Marion Morris, in Highbury Street Methodist Church in Prospect, South Australia. This article appeared in the "Adelaide News" a couple of days before the wedding

Bridesmaid Miss Rosalie Henley will wear pink linen, and flower girl Barbara Steele will be in pale blue.3


He died on Monday, 20 December 2010, aged 87 years, 5 months and 24 days, in Pooraka, South Australia,4 and he was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, on 23 December 2010.4

     Annie Maria Leak was born on 1 April 1868 in Yankalilla, South Australia.1

On 13 July 1896, Annie, aged 28, married Samuel Gibson Fairlie, aged 28, son of John Fairlie and Rebecca Barton, in Wesleyan Church in Glenburn, South Australia.1

She died on Monday, 16 December 1940, aged 72 years, 8 months and 15 days, in Hutchinson Hospital, Gawler, South Australia.2

     William George Fairlie was born on 12 September 1897 in Second Valley, South Australia, son of Samuel Gibson Fairlie and Annie Maria Leak.1

William began military service on 22 June 1918 in Adelaide, South Australia, when he enlisted in the AIF. His service number was 52550. He embarked on 22nd October 1918 on HMAT "Boonah" but, because of the "cessation of hostilies", returned on the same ship, disembarking on 9th January 1919.
He was discharged on 23rd January 1919.2

On 23 April 1921, William, aged 23, married Reta May Crooks, aged 19, in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia.

He died on Saturday, 14 June 1997, aged 99 years, 9 months and 2 days, in South Australia.3

William was buried in the Willaston Cemetery, Willaston, South Australia.3
