     Elva Margaret Fairlie was born on 23 February 1927 in Medindie, South Australia, daughter of John Fairlie and Charlotte Marion Morris.1

Elva began military service on 31 July 1945 in Adelaide, South Australia, when she enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force. Her service number was 114945. She was discharged on 18th September 1945, with the rank of Aircraftwoman with the 1 WAAAF Depot.2

On 17 August 1946, Elva, aged 19, married Lyall Reginald Henley, aged 23, in Highbury Street Methodist Church in Prospect, South Australia. This article appeared in the "Adelaide News" a couple of days before the wedding

On 17 February 1944, in the Adelaide Supreme Court, William was granted a Decree Nisi against Marjorie "on the grounds of desertion". He was in the AIF at the time.3

On 4 October 1944, William, aged 34, married Joy Woollacott, aged 31, daughter of Thomas Henry Woollacott and Nellie Pearson Westmoreland, in Christ Curch, Church of England, Milton in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
