Elizabeth appeared on the census of 2 April 1911 in The Whins, Sunnydale, Surrey, England, as a visitor. Two of her daughters lived and worked there; Elizabeth Phoebe Alexander, aged 37, was a companion to the Head of house, Sarah Marie Sykes. Sealy Alexander

     Elizabeth Phoebe Alexander was born about September 1871 in Ramsbury, Wiltshire, England, daughter of Henry Nelson Alexander and Elizabeth Phoebe Smith.1

In the 1901 census she was a Companion (servant) in the home of Joseph Sykes, an 89 year old gentleman living on his own means, with his wife, Sarah, aged 53 and daughter Josephine age 17. There were also two nurses, a cook, parlourmaid, housemaid and an under housemaid in 175 Preston Road, Brighton, Sussex, England.2

To my knowledge, Elizabeth wasand were never married.3

She appeared on the census on 2 April 1911, in the household of Sarah Marie Sykes in The Whins, Sunnydale, Surrey, England, She was 37 years old and worked there as a a Companion to the head of the house, Sarah Marie Sykes.. Also working there was her sister Sealy Alexander, age 24, who was a Domestic Homekeeper. Their mother was also staying there at the time, as a Visitor.4

She died on Wednesday, 4 May 1955, in 73 Langdale Road, Hove, Sussex, England.5

Probate was granted on her estate on 7 September 1955 in Lewes, Sussex, England, to Nelson Ambrose Goldring, company director, and Vera Hopkins, widow. Her effects were valued at £1,373 2s. (approx. 2013 value = AU$140,000.)3
