On 23 March 1935, Lawrence, married Kathleen Vera Gwendoline Evans, aged 21, daughter of Henry Thomas Evans and Evaline Hope Ellis, in the residence of Reverend Killmier in Port Pirie, South Australia.1

On 24 November 1938 he was awarded a bronze medal for bravery for rescuing Leslie Price Hunt "from suffocation or mutilation in ore bin" in Whyalla on March 5th, 1938.2

He died on Monday, 29 July 1963, in Whyalla Hospital, Whyalla, South Australia.3
