     Thomas Alan Cannell was born on 7 September 1907 in Leederville, Western Australia, son of Thomas William George Cannell and Annie Amelia Sherlock.

In June 1925, Thomas, aged 17, married Kate Shuttleworth, in Western Australia.

On 7 December 1942 Thomas began his millitary service when he enlisted in the Australian Army in Dandaragan, Western Australia. His Service Number was WX35783. He was discharged on 7 January 1946 with the rank of Sapper in the 13th Field Company.1

He died on Monday, 15 August 1966, aged 58 years, 11 months and 8 days, in Perth, Western Australia.
