She was christened on 7 January 1838 in Froxfield, Wiltshire, England.1

She appeared on the census on 6 June 1841, in the household of Charles Henry Hobbs in Oakhill, Wiltshire, England, age 3.2

Jane, age 3, appeared on the census of 6 June 1841 in the household of Charles Henry Hobbs, Oakhill, Wiltshire, England, The household consisted of Charles, head, 38, agricultural labourer; Elizabeth, Wife, 40; Susanna, 15; Mary Ann, 13; Emily and William (twins), 11 (William was an agricultural labourer); George, 8; Henery, 6; Jane, 3 and Stephen 9mths.3

She appeared on the census on 30 March 1851, in the household of Charles Henry Hobbs in Oakhill, Wiltshire, England, dau., 13, agricultural labourer.4

Jane Hobbs emigrated on 23 May 1853 from England, leaving Southampton with her sister Susannah and Susannah's husband, Henry Talbot and son John Henry, 1 yr, on board the "Magdalena", under Captain Brenton. Her occupation was given as "servant".
Also on board was Henry's brother Thomas, his wife Eliza and sons David, 4yr and Charles, 1yr. They all arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia on 26 Aug 1853.5

On 12 April 1858, Jane, aged 20, married Charles Fellows Faggotter, aged 25, son of Lord Lovell and Harriet Faggotter, in Kanyaka, South Australia. The witnesses were James Watson, store-keeper at Kanyaka and Susannah Talbot, a sister of the bride. Susannah signed "with her X mark".6

She died on Monday, 17 December 1894, aged 56 years, 11 months and 26 days, in Kooringa, South Australia, from diarrhea & vomiting.7

She was buried in Hallett Cemetery, Hallett, South Australia, by Reverend R.H. Lee. No headstone, dirt mound. A name plaque was been added in recent years.8
