     Patrick John Deen was born in 1878.1

On 7 November 1925 Patrick was married to Cecilia Hannah Haines, daughter of George Haines and Johanna Miriam Bawden, in the residence of the Archbishop, Adelaide, South Australia, by Rev Father John Hopkins Gatzemeyer. The witnesses were Patrick's brother Michael Deen, Labourer of Prospect and Cecilia's sister Emily from Lower Mitcham.1

At the time of his marriage he was a Railway Employee.2

He died on Saturday, 14 April 1962, aged 84 years, in Hyde Park, South Australia,
Before he became ill he lived in Ovingham.3

Patrick was buried in the Dudley Park Cemetery, Dudley Park, South Australia.4

Life Events

     Hugh Mark Cummings was born on 5 September 1896 in Quorn, South Australia, son of Joseph Benjamin Cummings and Emily Honorah Harris.1

Hugh began military service on 8 January 1916 in Black Hill, Western Australia, when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force. His service number was 5072. He embarked from Fremantle aboard the HMAT "Shropshire" on March 31st 1916, landing in Alexandria.
On 7th June 1916, he left Alexandria aboard the HMT "Huntspill", landing in Marseilles, France, a week later, where he joined the 48th Battalion.
On the 25th January, 1917, he became sick and was found to suffering from mumps, and was hospitalised until the 18th February. He had another couple of weeks recuperation before rejoining the 48th Battalion on 6th March.2

He died on Monday, 9 April 1917, aged 20 years, 7 months and 4 days, in France, "killed in action" but the records don't show where he died.3

Hugh was buried on 9 April 1917 in the Villers-Bretoneux Memorial Cemetery, near Amiens, France.4

Peter Starr and Catherine Starr emigrated on 17 February 1840 from in Greenock, Scotland, on the "Dauntless", under Captain William Miller. Those on board were Peter Starr, his wife Catherine and children Jane, Catherine, Francis Paul and Ellen. They arrived in Port Adelaide on 10 July 1840 , after a traumatic 5 months at sea.

On 12 November 1861 he was charged with the murder of William Simpson Lawless, otherwise known as William Simpson Macgregor, a 24 year old man who worked for him.

He was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 9 year penal servitude, but was released after 3 years.5

On 15 June 1872 he was mentioned in "The South Australian Advertiser" as a participating member at a meeting of the Virginia Agricultural Society, held in the Virginia Hotel in the evening of June 11th.

He died on Tuesday, 18 February 1879, aged 77, in One Tree Hill, South Australia.2

Ellen Starr accompanied her parents Peter and Catherine Starron their Emigration from Greenock, Scotland, to South Australia on 17 February 1840.
