On 9 November 1935, Vernice, aged 18, married Edward Charles Winter, aged 20, son of Alfred Winter and Phoebe Chester Bates, in Adelaide, South Australia.

She died on Saturday, 18 May 2013, aged 96 years and 25 days, in Mitcham, South Australia,² and she was cremated at Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, South Australia, on 27 May 2013.²
