      He was christened on 16 April 1848 in Poulshot, Wiltshire, England, and he arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia, on 30 March 1850.1

On 6 October 1883 he purchased land under the South Australian scheme known as the "Strangeways Act", where settlers could purchase land on credit, with 20% deposit and the balance payable at the end of 4 years.

The first lot he bought was Section 72 Hundred of Lindley, County Burra, a total area of 349 acres, cost £349. On 26 October the same year he purchased a further 320 acres, Section 57 in the same Hundred, at a cost of £320.2

     Elimelech Edmonds was born about 1760, son of ?Ezekial Edmonds and ?Ann Stevens.

On 19 August 1781, Elimelech, married, by Banns, Ann Bennett, aged 19, daughter of William Bennett and Mary White, in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England.1

By 1811 he and Mawbey Tugwell had taken over the Greenland Lower Mill in Bradford-on-Avon at a rent of £460. In 1815 Mawbey died but the firm known as Yerbury, Tugwell and Edmonds remained there until 1824.2

He died about February 1826, in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England.
